Pizza in the oven and Bubbles to POP!

The children made pizza today following a recipe using number words. While the pizza was baking and cooling, we sat on the floor together and tried blowing "plastic balloons". Everyone tried blowing through their straws. It was fun and calm.

Rainy April Days

It's hard enough to pay attention to learning in the classroom, but when a man brings a big ladder in to room 7 to change a light bulb, it becomes all about WHAT he is doing.

The wet weather kept us inside for recess today. Looks like it might be the same all week. We will need our rain gear for WEDNESDAY, when we walk to the pool, and for FRIDAY , when we walk to Ore Creek for Friday Fun Club.

Our reading buddies were here this afternoon. Each small group used an iPad to look through pictures of dogs. (Google Images) They took one of those pictures and saved it to use in a drawing app.(Doodle Buddy) Everyone was engaged in the activity.

Somebody Stole My Snout!

Color Mixing

We have been reading and experimenting with the science of color mixing. This afternoon in Fun Club we made Color Spinners. Students used 2 primary colors of marker on their CD's. We had prepared the CD's ahead of time with a penny in the middle. Students could spin the CD's and the colors blend into orange, green, or purple.

The girls in the class did this, too! I was sitting at the boy's table with the camera. We also mixed colors using eyedroppers and food coloring on coffee filters. The results will be displayed next week.

Next, we used our color mixing understanding to play "Frogs and Fireflies" on the iPad. The colored frogs will only eat flies that are the same color as they are. Students must mix red and blue to make a purple fly, blue and yellow to get a green fly, and yellow and red for an orange fly.
