Lunch in our classroom

It is fun to eat lunch in our classroom with our 4th grade buddies before we go swimming. We always listen to the story of The Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly during that time too. Once a month we have pizza in the class when we return from swimming with the 4th graders. Each week EVERYONE is asking me, "Do we have pizza today?" (It's next week!)
The pool and the air was better today.....we stayed in the water. A member of the community who is often at the pool at the same time as we are commented today on how well the children do in the water and the gains they are making. I love to hear these things from others.

We saw Mrs.Kelly and the students from her class at the pool.We will see them again on Friday when we walk to Ore Creek for Fun Club.

Two girls in gym class this afternoon.......they looked tired out!
This afternoon we followed this recipe: The children are doing nicely reading the number words.

We got to go outside for recess after lunch. It was sunny and clear. The playground is a snowy, icy, BUMPY mess. It will only get worse as the snow melts and freezes again!
Swimming tomorrow!

Even the pool is cold!

They say there's a first for everything...... today 4 of the students got out of the pool early because they were cold. Even one red haired boy who is always the last to get out! No pictures from swimming, but some from the classroom this morning.

This little battery operated bug is a favorite with the group. We bring it out at Talk Time, and students ask (and wait) to take a turn.
We also request a drink or a cracker at Talk Time.
This hungry girl always asks for a cracker.

She's looking closely at the bug.

This boy is pretending to sleep. He doesn't fool me!

Using a voice output device to make a request.

Making signs to go along with the story.

Answering a question using another device.

Eating a morning snack can be settling.

Singing to "Yellow Submarine."

Dance partners.

Checking out her 4th grade buddy.

The sun may be shining, but it's COLD outside!

Indoor recess this afternoon.

We are using number words in our recipes. Today we followed a recipe to make a snack mix. It called for "five scoops of popcorn, four scoops of cereal, three scoops of pretzels, two scoops of gumdrops, and one scoop of m&m's." Yum!

Two students working together this morning.

A few candid shots of our indoor recess after lunch. This afternoon , we began our lesson on the schoolwide word of the month, HONESTY. We heard a story about a little dog who took all the bones from another dog. In the end, he was HONEST and gave them all back. We made dogs with bones to help us remember this story.
