Students impressed me with their skills this morning. We played "Changing at Swimming Lotto" but today students LISTENED to a description of the item instead of seeing the picture and matching it. For example, "Circle the picture of what you use to dry off with," or "Circle the picture of what you wear on your feet." They ALL did VERY WELL. I thought that it might be difficult, but I was wrong.
Students also worked together in a group with our new guided reading book "The Very Busy Hen." The repeated phrase in the story is "Come and play," said the (animal). Students put the picture in the sentence and read the sentence.
Fun at the pool with 4th grade buddies. :-)

Reading Buddies - Monday February 8, 2010
Wednesday, February 3, 2010
Wednesdays always feel so busy! Students came in happy this morning and began the routine. We played a new swim vocabulary game this morning. We identified different picture word cards related to changing clothes in the locker room at the pool. Then students circled each picture in a bingo-like game. Students were attentive and did well. Then we played a bounce the ball days of the week game. 4th grade peer buddies joined us for lunch in our room, paired up with each of us for the walk over to the pool and then swam with us. It was a joyful time in the water. The bus was waiting to take us back to Creekside. We were hungry! Then off to gym and music. Whew! Hmmm........who is more tired......students or Mrs. Wentzel?
