The last full day of school 07-08

It's always hard to believe that another school year has past and it is time for summer to begin.
We have made many gains this year and it is hard to say goodbye.

This morning we sang the number song together one last time, played "What's in the bag?" (Glow stick bracelets), did handwriting, day of the week, Starfall calendar, and read our "Ladybug Room" books (THANK YOU - we love them!).

This afternoon we sang all of our favorite Boowa and Kwala songs as a fond farewell (I'll be singing them in my head all summer). We followed a recipe for caramel corn. The kids had great fun making it, but most did not eat it.

The highlight of the afternoon was the Ladybug Pinata. The squeals, the laughter, and the falling candy........we loved it all!

Tomorrow students will spend most of their time with their grade level class. I will make sure to see them all for hug goodbye. I will miss them, and I will miss you all!

Water Balloons

Last Friday there were water balloons in "What's in the bag?" EVERYONE helped to fill them..........and when we went outside, to THROW them!

One of our students uses a walker. It was parked in the classroom yesterday afternoon while he was on the floor with the rest of us rolling the ice cream ball. Students have probably been curious all year long about the walker. One got up and tried it, then another and another. They all wanted to know what it was like to walk using the walker. They found out that there are brakes preventing the walker from rolling backward, so they couldn't go in reverse. Another learning experience.

Making Ice Cream

Ms. Peifer taught us how to make ice cream using her ice cream ball. It was great fun in a relaxed environment! And the ice cream was DELICIOUS!

We play a game called "Where's the Troll?" It's a Powerpoint presentation with pictures of the troll in different locations. Students use different positional words (in, on, under, next to, by) to answer the question. In this familiar and silly context students are using targeted words.
